Elon Musk's Neuralink: Get your Brain Chip!
Vol. 4 - A Quick Byte: Week of 2/4/24 Apple Vision Pro, Neuralink, Meta Stock Jump, Obsidian.MD, Voxon 3D Volumetric Displays.
This week we’ve got Apple releasing its new “spatial computing” headset. They refuse to call it AR or VR. Elon Musk plants a chip in someone’s brain and now you can sign up to get on their patient list if you have their listed requirements. Facebook META 0.00%↑ is going bonkers with their stocks soaring this week. Productivity nerds are using new apps that can help you build your second Brain. I call my obsidian folder Brain2.0
Apple’s Vision Pro is now available. People are already being seen everywhere flaunting their new Apple swag. It is already becoming a meme. And if this is a part of Apples FOMO campaign its pretty damn smart. We are truly entering the simulation era. Continued in section below Gizmos Gadgets.
META 0.00%↑ Last week Facebook stock jumps more than 20%. Mark Zuckerberg will be making about $700Mil a year off of his dividends alone.
The Hamburglar is riding across America in his custom 1970 Plymouth Barracuda dubbed the ‘Burgercuda’. If you snap the QR code on his car you can grab some rewards like swag or free food. You can also enter via their website at spothamburglar.com
The Cult of Hidden Valley Ranch. Burts Bees are releasing a Hidden Valley Ranch flavored lip balm.
Have you heard of the productivity app Obsidian? Well it’s not really an app it is a sort of note taking system/database that you can build as your second brain. I have been using it lately and it’s changed everything. It’s free to use. Check out these sick templates people create.
Voxon is creating these amazing displays of the future, 3D volumetric displays. The technology has been around, but they are engineering different ways we can interact with the displays and create applications we can use in everyday life. I really want a visual computer like they had in Prometheus or Blade Runner 2049.

Neuralink
This year the first human had a successful implant and recovery.
The chip, installed by a robot, will then record and send brain signals to an app, with the initial goal being “to grant people the ability to control a computer cursor or keyboard using their thoughts alone,”
Their product named “Telepathy” is going to allow the users to control almost any device like your phone and tablet. In this case they are trialing it on paraplegics or people with loss of limbs or use of them.
Rough Patch: “the company faced scrutiny after a monkey died in 2022 during an attempt to get the animal to play Pong,” - CNN
You can now sign up here to get on their patient registry and possibly getting the implanted chip.
Before Neuralink’s brain implants hit the broader market, they’ll need regulatory approval. The FDA put out a paper in 2021 mapping out the agency’s initial thoughts on brain-computer interface devices, noting the field is “progressing rapidly.”
There is also a sort of quiet competitor. “Synchron, the first company to gain FDA clearance to test a device in humans in 2021. Synchron has since been enrolling and implanting patients in a trial.” Synchron | The Brain Unlocked
